Completed in 2017, Almanac was commissioned by the City of Ottawa for the Francois Dupuis Recreation Centre expansion. The overall shapes are of waxing and waning moons, while the scenes within are made up of patterns representing wind, water and fauna native to this area. The pieces have a contemplative and restful feel that rewards repeated viewings. In the same way that the stars and moon have been used to help us find our way, or help us plan for the future, the community centre is a place where we come together; to grow and prosper.
I acknowledge with gratitude and respect that I live and work on the traditional unceded territory of the Anishnaabeg Algonquin nation. I recognize their ancestors as the original people of this area, and am grateful for their knowledge and guidance.
